Stay Quiet
The internationally recognized silence concept in Skåne
A cabin in nature + a sound meter
A fun challenge and antidote to today’s noise pollution
In October 2025, the project Stay Quiet took place here at Faunbäck Retreat.
It was an initiative by Visit Skåne, created in close collaboration with us as the local host.
Guests stayed in our tiny houses surrounded by nature, with one simple condition: to keep the silence. A sound meter inside each cabin measured the decibel levels and gently reminded guests of their sound level.
The project became a great success. Major newspapers, news agencies, and television crews showed strong interest.
We are grateful that the world embraced the message. Staying in Skåne’s beautiful nature, free from noise pollution, invites stillness, awareness, and a deeper appreciation of natural soundscapes.
Launching Quiet Retreats
Since the project touched so many people, we’re now taking its essence with us and evolving it into a lasting part of our guest experience.
During December, we will launch Quiet Retreat and open bookings for 2026.
Quiet Retreat blends technology with mindful living, showing that the two can support each other rather than compete.
With a small sound meter as your guide, your own sound becomes something you can observe in real time - a playful and gentle way to become more aware of quiet.

What You Can Expect
The concept "Quiet Retreat" includes:
• A minimum two-night stay in one of our unique tiny houses
• Staying as quiet as possible, with a sound meter showing your noise level
• Keeping your average sound below 45 decibels
• If you exceed the sound level, donating a minimum of 500 SEK to Stiftelsen Skånska Landskap, supporting nature and cultural landscapes in Skåne
• Digital detox - we recommend putting your phone away as much as possible
• Visits to some of the nature spots featured on Visit Skåne’s Quietude Map
• Recipes for creating nutritious meals over open fire – or indoors if you prefer
• Self-led exercises to deepen your stay and your relationship with nature
• Space for presence, reflection, and deeper connection – with yourself, nature, and the person you share the stay with
Who it’s for?!
Quiet Retreat is for anyone curious to explore silence in a new way — blending mindful presence with a touch of technology.
Ready to return to a simpler rhythm?!
We recommend sharing the experience with someone close – it’s a surprisingly fun challenge to stay quiet together.
The stay leaves you feeling grounded, clear, and deeply connected – to yourself, to each other, and to the quiet beauty of nature.

The Science
At Faunbäck Retreat, our approach is deeply rooted in research across several fields that highlight the profound impact of nature, meaningful connections, and the importance of slowing down on our overall well-being.
Nature Therapy and Shinrin-Yoku
Decades of research in nature therapy and practices like Shinrin-Yoku, or "forest bathing," have shown that spending time in nature isn't just refreshing—it's essential for both physical and psychological health. Immersing yourself in natural environments can lower blood pressure, reduce stress, and improve mood. It's not just about getting fresh air; it's about reconnecting with the earth in a way that restores your body and mind.
Existential Health and Positive Psychology
Research in existential health reveals that meaningful connections—to ourselves, to others, and to nature—are vital for a fulfilling life. Positive psychology supports this by showing how practices like mindfulness, authentic relating, and meaningful conversations significantly contribute to happiness and personal growth. It's not just about talking; it's about engaging in deep, meaningful interactions that nurture our souls and strengthen our sense of purpose.
The Power of Slowing Down
In today's fast-paced world, we often overlook the importance of slowing down. Yet, research consistently shows that taking time to pause, reflect, and let both body and mind regenerate is crucial for maintaining balance and well-being.
Slowing down allows us to connect with our inherent wisdom and the natural processes of regeneration, leading to a healthier, more harmonious life.
