Stay Quiet

The internationally recognized silence concept in Skåne by Visit Skåne.
A cabin in nature + a sound meter
A fun challenge and antidote to today’s noise pollution

In October 2025, the project Stay Quiet took place here at Faunbäck Retreat.

It was an initiative by Visit Skånecreated in close collaboration with us as experts on retreats and mindfulness.

Guests stayed in our tiny houses surrounded by nature, with one simple condition: to keep the silence. A sound meter inside each cabin measured the decibel levels and gently reminded guests of their sound level.

The project became a great success. Major newspapers, news agencies, and television crews showed strong interest.

We are grateful that the world embraced the message. Staying in Skåne’s beautiful nature, free from noise pollution, invites stillness, awareness, and a deeper appreciation of natural soundscapes.

Introducing Quiet Retreats
in our offers

Since the project Stay Quiet touched so many people, we’re now taking its essence with us and evolving it into a lasting part of our guest experience.

We have chosen to offer two versions of Quiet Retreat, so you can decide how you want to experience silence.

One version includes a playful technical twist with a decibel meter.
The other version is a self-guided Quiet Retreat without measurement, where you keep the silence in your own way. This version can also be booked as a solo stay.

🌿 Stay Quiet – with decibel meter

Your sound level is measured in real time, making silence tangible and engaging.

Quiet Retreat blends technology with mindful living, showing that the two can support each other rather than compete. – a playful and gentle way to become more aware of being together without talking.

🌿 Stay Quiet – (without decibel meter)

A self-led Quiet Retreat with no measurement - but with all the other wonderful features of this experience. Land more deeply in yourself, explore who you are in the silence. You can enjoy this experience solo or together with someone.

The Science

At Faunbäck Retreat, our approach is deeply rooted in research across several fields that highlight the profound impact of nature, meaningful connections, and the importance of slowing down on our overall well-being.

Nature Therapy and Shinrin-Yoku

Decades of research in nature therapy and practices like Shinrin-Yoku, or "forest bathing," have shown that spending time in nature isn't just refreshing—it's essential for both physical and psychological health. Immersing yourself in natural environments can lower blood pressure, reduce stress, and improve mood. It's not just about getting fresh air; it's about reconnecting with the earth in a way that restores your body and mind.

Existential Health and Positive Psychology

Research in existential health reveals that meaningful connections—to ourselves, to others, and to nature—are vital for a fulfilling life. Positive psychology supports this by showing how practices like mindfulness, authentic relating, and meaningful conversations significantly contribute to happiness and personal growth. It's not just about talking; it's about engaging in deep, meaningful interactions that nurture our souls and strengthen our sense of purpose.

The Power of Slowing Down

In today's fast-paced world, we often overlook the importance of slowing down. Yet, research consistently shows that taking time to pause, reflect, and let both body and mind regenerate is crucial for maintaining balance and well-being.
Slowing down allows us to connect with our inherent wisdom and the natural processes of regeneration, leading to a healthier, more harmonious life.
